Job summary

Amey in Glasgow is seeking a Permanent Highways Technician to join the Bridges Scheme Delivery Team in polmadie. You will support safe, efficient highway works, coordinate subcontractors and liaise with stakeholders to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways or civil engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and highways safety.
• Strong problem-solving and initiative.
• A collaborative mindset and teamwork.
• Good commercial awareness and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong IT skills with Microsoft Office.
• Full UK driving licence mandatory.
• A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Delivery Manager in safe, efficient delivery of highway works.
• Assist with Principal Contractor duties under CDM Regulations.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
• Prepare and review Construction Phase Plans, RAMS and docs.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety visits; coordinate subcontractors.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders and local authorities.
• Maintain site records, permits and project documentation.
• Promote a positive safety culture via toolbox talks.
• Support incident reporting and continuous improvement actions.
