Job summary

Amey is seeking a Highways Supervisor to join our NMC North East contract in Perth, partnering with Transport Scotland to maintain and improve Scotland's trunk road network. You will lead frontline operational teams, coordinate maintenance, manage site resources and safety compliance, and act as the link between planning and delivery on day-to-day operations.

This is a hands-on role requiring proactive leadership and a commitment to communities served.

Qualifications

• Experience within highways construction, maintenance or civil engineering operations.
• Experience supervising direct labour teams and subcontractors.
• Strong planning, organisation and workload management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Ability to identify issues quickly and implement practical solutions.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting operational teams across routine, reactive and emergency maintenance activities.
• Carrying out site visits and inspections to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.
• Providing technical guidance and problem-solving support to operational gangs.
• Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and promoting a strong safety-first culture.
• Ensuring accurate recording of completed works for client reporting and project records.
• Managing materials, plant, equipment and subcontractor requirements to support delivery.
• Monitoring workforce performance, attendance, development and training needs.
• Supporting employee development through coaching, performance reviews and training plans.
• Ensuring all works comply with environmental, quality and contractual requirements.
• Assisting with emergency and winter service operations when required.
