Job summary

Amey Consulting Scotland is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join the Consulting Structures Team in Scotland. The role involves leading design efforts on highway schemes, mentoring junior designers, and working closely with Transport Scotland and other clients across Scotland.

You will contribute to bid preparation, manage project costs, and ensure design outputs meet quality, cost, and programme criteria. Flexible/hybrid working across Perth, Motherwell, and Edinburgh is available.

Qualifications

• Experience in Highways civil engineering and design
• Ability to lead a design team and mentor junior staff
• Experience liaising with clients and stakeholders
• Proven track record on scheme delivery, design checks and documentation
• Incorporation/chartered status or equivalent professional licence is desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to deliver technically sound highway design solutions
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and deliverables
• Oversee junior staff and manage related tasks
• Manage budgets and costs for projects
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives and attend progress meetings
• Contribute to bids and business development activities
• Promote health and safety best practices within the team
