Job summary

Amey in Glasgow is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support the Major Bridges Scheme Delivery Team on a permanent basis. The role is based in Polmadie, Glasgow, with 40-hour weeks Mon-Fri and overtime options for weekend/site supervision.

You will bring civil engineering or highways experience and a solid understanding of CDM and safety compliance. The position requires a degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification, a full UK driving licence, and strong collaboration with

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification is essential.
• Experience in highways/civil projects and CDM duties.
• Strong problem-solving, initiative and IT skills.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Delivery Manager in day-to-day highway/infrastructure works.
• Assist in fulfilling Principal Contractor duties in line with CDM Regulations.
• Ensure works are planned and delivered in compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Carry out site inspections, safety visits and audits; ensure actions are closed.
• Coordinate subcontractors and supply chain partners on site.
• Monitor programme, resources and costs; highlight risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with clients, authorities, stakeholders and the public.
• Promote Amey values and a strong Safety First culture.
• Lead toolbox talks and workforce engagement sessions.
• Support investigation of incidents and near misses.
