Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor - Highways to lead the commercial function across multiple highways schemes in Northampton. You will mentor a team of surveyors, prepare CVRs and forecasts, and identify commercial risks while driving value engineering opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Senior Quantity Surveyor experience in highways or civil engineering.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
  • Experience leading commercial teams across multiple schemes.
  • NEC contract experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial function across several highways schemes from inception to final account.
  • Mentor and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors from trainee to senior level.
  • Prepare, review and present CVRs and project forecasts with strategic insight.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks while driving value engineering opportunities.
  • Ensure projects comply with internal commercial processes and best practice.
  • Act as the key commercial advisor on contractual matters and dispute resolution.
  • Oversee procurement strategies and maintain strong supply chain relationships.
  • Build and manage client relationships, representing the business professionally.
  • Support continuous improvement across commercial systems and processes.

  • Ability to manage risk, drive performance, and influence key decisions
  • Strong communication skills with both internal teams and external clients
Salary and benefits
  • £85,000 - £90,000 per annum (salary dependent on experience)
