Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a General Foreman to lead a major highways scheme in Goole, East Yorkshire. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, supervise operatives and subcontractors, and coordinate with the Site Agent and Works Manager to keep the programme on track.

The role demands a proven highways/civil background, strong leadership, and certification in CSCS and SMSTS/SSSTS. Safety, planning and effective communication are essential to drive successful project delivery and career

Qualifications

• Experience as General Foreman or similar on highways/civil schemes.
• Strong background delivering highways construction works and earthworks.
• Leadership of site teams and coordination of subcontractors.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Certified health and safety qualifications such as SSSTS/SMSTS and CSCS.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day site operations for highways and civil works.
• Supervise and coordinate site operatives, subcontractors and trades.
• Plan activities with the Site Agent and Works Manager to meet programme.
• Organise labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to maintain productivity.
• Monitor progress against targets and implement solutions to delays.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality requirements are met.
• Deliver site briefings, toolbox talks and daily coordination meetings.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Maintain accurate site records, diaries, labour returns and progress reports.
• Liaise with Engineers and subcontractors to ensure works meet spec.
