Job summary

Balfour Beatty Highways seeks a Construction Manager for the A66 NTP Scheme based in Penrith, Cumbria. The role focuses on safety, quality, and on-site leadership, with responsibility for resource allocation, risk management, and driving the construction programme to successful completion.

You will lead safety practices, manage subcontractors, monitor KPIs, and ensure compliance with H&S procedures across the project while delivering value for stakeholders in a challenging highway environment.

Qualifications

• CSCS and SMSTS and/or SSSTS certifications are required or preferred.
• Demonstrated H&S knowledge and ability to implement procedures.
• Experience leading highway construction teams and managing subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Create a culture of openness and trust in reporting Health and Safety matters.
• Set and manage KPIs in line with project objectives and monitor performance.
• Lead risk reviews and drive actions to improve site safety and efficiency.
• Allocate resources to the Works Section and ensure appropriate capability.
• Lead cost control and commercial coordination for the scheme.
• Manage subcontractor performance and delivery of the construction programme.
