Based in Penrith, Cumbria, the role offers responsibility for financial targets, NEC contract administration, and coordination with the project team.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in civil engineering or highways, strong NEC knowledge, and a commercially driven approach to project delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or highways.
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing project costs, subcontractors and commercial change.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of project activities, ensuring financial targets and contractual obligations are met.
• Manage cost control, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
• Oversee subcontract procurement, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Administer NEC contracts and manage change, compensation events and commercial risk.
• Identify opportunities to maximise value and protect project profitability.
• Work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure robust commercial governance and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a leading UK infrastructure contractor on a major highways project in the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a key commercial role within a significant highways infrastructure scheme, working alongside an established project team to support commercial performance, contractual compliance and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of project activities, ensuring financial targets and contractual obligations are met.
