Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Higher-Level Learning Assistant to support Key Stage 2 pupils in a Darlington primary setting. The role focuses on small-group interventions and 1:1 support alongside teachers to keep pupils engaged and progressing.

The candidate should hold Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications, KS2 classroom experience and HLTA exposure, with strong English and maths and excellent classroom management. A proactive, professional approach is essential.

This isn't your typical classroom assistant role.

Milk Education is looking for a confident and experienced Higher-Level Learning Assistant to join a primary school in Darlington, supporting pupils across Key Stage 2.

We're looking for someone who can take initiative, confidently support learning and work closely with teachers to help keep pupils engaged, progressing and ready for their next challenge.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Supporting teaching and learning across KS2
• Leading small-group learning and interventions
• Providing targeted 1:1 support where required
• Supporting English, maths, reading and wider curriculum learning
• Helping pupils develop independence and confidence
• Supporting classroom routines and positive behaviour
• Reinforcing teacher-led learning and instructions
• Adapting activities to suit different learning needs
• Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers
• Working alongside the class teacher to support lesson delivery
• Taking responsibility for agreed learning activities when required

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification
• Previous KS2 classroom experience
• HLTA or higher-level TA experience
• Experience delivering interventions
• Strong English and maths knowledge
• Confidence supporting groups independently
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills

PAY

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
