Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Durham from September. You will work with pupils in Years 3-6, providing classroom support, encouraging independence and helping children progress in their learning.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, improving literacy, numeracy and communication skills, and closely collaborating with the class teacher to deliver engaging activities.

Qualifications

  • Level 2/3 qualification in education, childcare or related subject.
  • Experience working with children in a school, nursery or childcare setting.
  • Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills; patient and approachable manner.

We're recruiting for a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Durham from September. You'll work with pupils across Years 3-6, providing classroom support, encouraging independence and helping children make positive progress in their learning.

Durham | September Start | Monday to Friday | £107.71 per day
Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups with their learning
  • Helping children develop their literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and stay engaged in lessons
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Working closely with the class teacher to deliver activities and adapt resources
  • Providing additional support for pupils with SEND or additional learning needs
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and creating an inclusive classroom environment
  • Supporting children during lessons, activities and other parts of the school day
What We're Looking For
  • Level 2/3 qualification in education, childcare or a related subject (preferred)
  • Experience working with children in a school, nursery or childcare setting
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's education and development
  • Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • A patient, positive and approachable manner
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a school team
  • Confidence supporting pupils with a range of learning needs
