Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a High Needs SEN Teaching Assistant in Sheffield on a supply basis. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access the curriculum and achieve learning goals in a welcoming school within a strong academy trust.

The successful candidate will have experience with high needs SEN, a patient and resilient approach, and excellent communication to work with teachers, SENCOs and support staff.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with high needs SEN.
• Experience supporting pupils with complex learning, behavioural or additional needs.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable, relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with high needs SEN.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and reach learning goals.
• Help manage behaviour and promote positive engagement in class.
• Provide pastoral, emotional and practical support as required.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other staff.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and social skills.
• Follow individual support plans and contribute to an inclusive classroom.
