Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment in Sheffield is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Tutor to provide personalised educational support for children and young people with additional learning needs.

The role focuses on tailored one-to-one tuition, helping pupils re-engage with learning, reach individual targets and build confidence, independence and resilience in a supportive, patient environment.

This is a full-time, term-time opportunity with competitive pay and ongoing guidance from a dedicated SEN Consultant.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN and/or SEMH.
• Strong knowledge of the primary or secondary curriculum.
• Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or personalised support.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.
• The ability to adapt lessons to suit individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 tuition.
• Help pupils re-engage with education and meet targets.
• Develop confidence, independence and resilience.
• Improve literacy and numeracy.
• Manage barriers to learning.
• Develop positive relationships with adults and their wider support network.
• Prepare for a successful return to school or next stage of education.
• Sessions will be adapted around the individual pupil, requiring creativity and flexibility.
