Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a specialist SEN school in Sheffield who are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex needs, supporting learning, and helping with emotional regulation and behaviour throughout the day.

You will be confident managing challenging situations in a calm, supportive style, building trusting relationships with pupils and collaborating with staff across the school.

Qualifications

• Experience in specialist SEN or complex needs settings.
• Experience with challenging behaviour.
• Experience in residential or supported living environments.
• Healthcare or care-based roles.
• Youth work or similar support positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEN.
• Support pupils to engage with learning and develop independence.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Build trusting and consistent relationships with pupils.
• Respond appropriately to challenging or distressed behaviour.
• Work alongside teachers, support staff and other professionals.
• Follow individual education, behaviour and support plans.
• Create a safe, structured and positive environment for pupils.
