Job summary

Prospero Teaching is partnering with a specialist secondary school in Rochdale to recruit a dedicated High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). The role supports students with complex needs, autism, and SEND, promoting a calm, nurturing learning environment.

The HLTA will assist with 1:1 and small group learning, contribute to individualised plans, and work closely with the teaching team to ensure high-quality education and student wellbeing in a UK school setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is essential.
• Recent graduate (2:2 or higher) or prior experience as a Teaching Assistant in a SEND setting.
• Experience in a UK school setting.
• Holding Right to Work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis; meet individual needs.
• Assist with lesson planning and delivery; adapt materials as necessary.
• Contribute to development of tailored learning plans for SEND students.
• Help manage behaviour and maintain a structured learning environment.
• Collaborate with teaching team to support holistic student learning.
• Support students with physical and personal care tasks where appropriate.

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay rate: £600-£750 per week (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

• A strong commitment to supporting children with complex needs and a genuine passion for making a positive impact on their lives
• Experience working in a UK school setting
