Job summary

Prospero Teaching is partnering with a specialist secondary school in Rochdale to recruit a passionate High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).

In this role you will support students with complex learning needs, assist in lesson delivery, and help develop tailored learning plans. A Level 4 TA qualification and Right to Work in the UK are required, with DBS clearance or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Level 4 Teaching Assistant qualifications.
• Recent graduate (2:2 or higher) or prior experience as a Teaching Assistant in a SEND setting.
• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs in a UK school.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Provide two professional child-related references.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 or small group support to students, meeting individual needs.
• Assisting with lesson planning and delivery, adapting materials as necessary.
• Contributing to tailored learning plans for students with SEND.
• Supporting behaviour management and maintaining a structured learning environment.
• Working with the teaching team to ensure a holistic approach to learning.
• Assisting with personal care tasks where appropriate.

Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay rate: 600- 750 per week (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

What we're looking for from a High Level Teaching Assistant:

• A recent graduate (2:2 or higher) or prior experience as a Teaching Assistant in a SEND setting
• Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is essential
• A strong commitment to supporting children with complex needs and a genuine passion for making a positive impact on their lives
• Experience working in a UK school setting

To be eligible you must:

• Level 4 Teaching Assistant qualifications
• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references
