Job summary

Grundon is seeking a motivated HGV Technician to join our Bishops Cleeve workshop. You will carry out inspections, servicing, repairs and MOT preparation to keep our fleet performing at peak efficiency.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, maintain documentation, mentor apprentices, and provide safe roadside assistance when required.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Parts 1-3 or NVQ Level 3 in HGV maintenance or equivalent.
• Alternative: 10 years of relevant experience in HGV maintenance.
• Valid HGV licence (Class 2), tachograph card, and Driver CPC where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs on vehicles, including warranty work, per manufacturer/regulatory standards.
• Prepare HGVs for annual MOT testing.
• Diagnose faults and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems; report defects.
• Complete service documentation and job records; follow incident/near-miss reporting.
• Maintain a safe, clean workspace; comply with H&S regs, SOPs, risk assessments; use PPE.
• Support and guide apprentice technicians and contribute to the team.
• Provide roadside assistance when safe and pursue ongoing skills training.
• Work hours as agreed with occasional cover at other site.
