Job summary

CD Auto Engineering Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician for a permanent night-shift role in Glasgow/North Lanarkshire. The role offers a strong basic salary up to £55,000 and OTE £60,000+, with a 4 on/4 off pattern and nights from 18:00 to 06:00.

You will service, inspect, diagnose and repair HGVs in a busy workshop, preparing vehicles for MOT and ensuring DVSA and company standards are met, with overtime opportunities to maximise earnings.

Qualifications

• Experience in servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs.
• Knowledge of HGV inspection and maintenance standards.
• Class 1 or Class 2 licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Completing scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections.
• Maintaining health and safety and workshop housekeeping.
• Completing job cards and maintenance documentation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking for a permanent night-shift position offering a strong basic salary, excellent earning potential and a genuine 4-on / 4-off working pattern?

We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established transport and logistics business operating across Glasgow and North Lanarkshire.

You will work within a busy commercial vehicle engineering environment, carrying out servicing, inspections, diagnostics and repairs to ensure the fleet remains safe, compliant and available for operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technician looking for a long-term position with strong earnings, regular time off and ongoing technical development.

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Completing scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Identifying and repairing defective or worn components
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections
• Ensuring all work meets DVSA and company maintenance standards
• Completing job cards and maintenance documentation accurately
• Supporting vehicle availability and minimising downtime
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and workshop housekeeping

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, Heavy Vehicle Technician or HGV Mechanic
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills
• Good knowledge of HGV inspection and maintenance standards
• Experience working within a commercial vehicle or fleet workshop
• A full UK driving licence

A Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.

SHIFT PATTERN

Permanent Nights

4 On / 4 Off

18:00 - 06:00

The 4-on / 4-off pattern provides regular blocks of four days away from work while maintaining strong annual earning potential.

SALARY AND OVERTIME

Basic Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum

OTE: £60,000+

Overtime: Paid at time and a half

Additional overtime opportunities are available for technicians looking to increase their overall earnings.
