AutoSkills (United Kingdom) is seeking an experienced HGV Technician in Sheffield for a permanent role with a structured 4 on / 4 off pattern and no night shifts. You’ll maintain and service a modern vehicle fleet, diagnose faults with modern equipment, and progress through manufacturer-led training.

The role offers £59,904 per year, an EAP, Cycle to Work, and clear career development opportunities within a supportive workshop team.

Qualifications

• Level 3 HGV qualification or equivalent is preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
• Experience with modern diagnostic equipment.
• Welding and fabrication experience is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on HGVs.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Complete inspections, preventative maintenance and repair work to a high standard.
• Carry out DVSA and manufacturer-related inspections and ensure vehicles meet required standards.
• Repair or replace components and conduct fault-finding to identify issues efficiently.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately while following health and safety procedures.

HGV Technician to join a modern commercial vehicle operation in Sheffield, working a structured 4 on / 4 off shift pattern with

no night shifts and optional overtime available.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for keeping a modern commercial vehicle fleet maintained, safe and roadworthy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on HGVs.
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Completing inspections, preventative maintenance and repair work to a high standard.
• Carrying out DVSA and manufacturer-related inspections and ensuring vehicles meet required standards.
• Repairing or replacing components and carrying out fault-finding to identify issues efficiently.
• Completing job cards and maintenance records accurately while following health and safety procedures.

You will play an important role as an HGV Technician, helping to maintain vehicle availability and minimise downtime.

About You

The ideal HGV Technician will have:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills, with experience using modern workshop equipment.
• A Level 3 HGV qualification or equivalent is preferred.
• Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous.
• A reliable, practical and safety-focused approach with good attention to detail.

You should be comfortable working independently as an HGV Technician while also contributing effectively as part of a professional workshop team.
