Job summary

Volvo Trucks in the United Kingdom is seeking a skilled HGV technician to service and repair trucks, diagnose faults, and perform maintenance to high standards. The role involves MOT inspections and road testing when required, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and prior HGV experience, with opportunities to progress within a global leader in transport solutions.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is required.
• Previous experience working on HGVs or completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular MOT service inspections on a wide range of manufacturers’ trucks.
• Perform repairs on engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension systems and other components according to Volvo procedures.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and service customer vehicles and complete service sheets.
• Road test vehicles when required (HGV license preferred) and assist with roadside breakdowns.
• Ensure all paperwork related to jobs is completed accurately and keep workshop facilities tidy.

Salary:

Competitive + OVERTIME + BONUS + PLUS £1000 SIGNING ON BONUS (£500 after 6 months + £500 after completion of 1 year service)

Shift Pattern

Dayshift Hours Mon - Fri

Mon – Thurs 6am – 2.30pm

Friday 6am – 1.30pm

Backshift Hours Mon – Friday

Mon – Thurs 2pm -10.30pm

Friday 1pm -8.30pm

Saturday Shift is on a Rota 7am – Noon* 1 shift every 4 weeks ***

You Will Have

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
• Previous experience working on HGV’s or have you completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry

What You'll Do

• Our Technicians are responsible carrying out regular MOT service inspections on a wide range of manufacturers’ trucks. Fault finding, carrying out repairs on engines, gearboxes brakes, suspension systems etc.
• Carry out repairs to a high standard according to Volvo procedures, safely and responsibly
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process
• Service Customer Vehicles and complete service sheets.
• Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV license)
• Assist with roadside breakdowns.
• Process all relevant paperwork relating to jobs accurately
• Ensure all vehicle defects are reported
• Keep all workshop facilities, equipment, and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
• Help us in supporting the development of trainees and apprentices
