Job summary

Volvo Group in Ayr is seeking an experienced HGV Technician. You will perform regular inspections, fault diagnosis, and repairs across a range of heavy trucks, ensuring compliance with Volvo procedures and safety standards.

The role may involve road testing and roadside support when required. Alongside a competitive salary, the position includes overtime, a bonus scheme, and a £1,000 signing-on bonus with staged payouts after 6 months and 1 year of service.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
• Previous experience working on HGVs or an established apprenticeship.
• Willingness to operate across a range of truck brands and systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular MOT service inspections and fault finding on trucks.
• Carry out repairs to a high standard following Volvo procedures.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and service customer vehicles.
• Road test vehicles if licensed and assist with roadside breakdowns as needed.

What you'll do:

• Our Technicians are responsible carrying out regular MOT service inspections on a wide range of manufacturers’ trucks. Fault finding, carrying out repairs on engines, gearboxes brakes, suspension systems etc.
• Carry out repairs to a high standard according to Volvo procedures, safely and responsibly
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process
• Service Customer Vehicles and complete service sheets.
• Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV license)
• Assist with roadside breakdowns.
• Process all relevant paperwork relating to jobs accurately
• Ensure all vehicle defects are reported
• Keep all workshop facilities, equipment, and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
• Help us in supporting the development of trainees and apprentices

Who are you?

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
• Previous experience working on HGV’s or have you completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry
