Job summary

Volvo Trucks is now recruiting for Apprentice HGV Technicians in Wellingborough. The 32‑month Advanced Level Apprenticeship combines practical workshop work with block-release college training at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy, Derby, to develop your skills on modern trucks and buses, including hybrid tech.

You will learn repairs, diagnostics, warranty procedures and parts fitting, supported by a dedicated coach, with accommodation and travel costs covered by the employer.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic individuals with a strong interest in heavy vehicles.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and a desire to learn.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication skills and a team player mentality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs using Volvo Standard Times and Volvo tools where appropriate.
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process.
• Learn and comply with warranty procedures during repairs and with warranty material on completion of repair.
• Assist and work with the parts team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fitted to the vehicles.
• Learn how to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Attend college courses regularly and achieve the standards required by the course.
