Job summary

Volvo Trucks UK and Ireland is inviting applications for an Apprentice HGV Technician in Wellingborough. The 32‑month Advanced Level Apprenticeship combines hands‑on workshop learning with college study at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby, with 18 blocks distributed between practical days and virtual classes.

You will work alongside qualified technicians, learn to repair and service modern trucks and buses, use Volvo tools safely, and complete IMI qualifications.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic with strong interest in heavy vehicles.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and desire to learn.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• GCSEs in Math and English at grade C/4 or above.

Responsibilities

• Assist repairs using Volvo Standard Times and Volvo tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and warranty procedures.
• Work with parts team to fit correct replacement parts.
• Learn to use Volvo tools safely and efficiently.
• Help keep the workshop clean and organized.
• Ensure accurate job cards and adherence to time recording.
• Report vehicle defects to workshop supervisor.
• Attend college courses and any training provided.
