Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is recruiting for a HGV Technician in Peterborough. The role covers servicing, repairing and diagnosing faults on HGVs and trailers, with MOT readiness and liaison with parts.

You will work in a team, with overtime opportunities and a path to gain your HGV licence after six months if you do not already hold one. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• HGV licence would be fantastic but not essential; support to gain licence after six months.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, light vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT.
• Attending roadside breakdowns when required.
• Working closely with the parts department.
• Completing job cards and workshop paperwork accurately.
• Keeping technical knowledge up to date through ongoing training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

HGV Technician, HGV Fitter, HGV Mechanic - commercial vehicle, LGV, HGV, fleet

You'll ideally have:

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent experience)
• Recent experience working within the motor trade in a similar role
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• A full UK driving licence
• An HGV licence would be fantastic, but it's not essential. If you're the right person and don't currently hold one, we'll support you in gaining your licence after six months.
