Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is recruiting a Vehicle Technician for our Peterborough depot. You will work across a wide range of makes and models, carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs, from routine tasks to complex diagnostics.

You will identify faults, liaise with the parts team, complete job cards and documentation, and support apprentices. A City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or proven diagnostic experience, a valid driving licence and strong problem-solving skills are required.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant vehicle maintenance/repair discipline.
• Higher-level diagnostic training or experience in a senior diagnostic role.
• Full, valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Identifying and rectifying in-depth and complex diagnostic faults.
• Carrying out service, maintenance and repairs across a range of cars and LGVs.
• Liaising with the Parts Department to ensure jobs are completed efficiently.
• Completing job cards, service sheets and other relevant documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintaining workspace clean, tidy and organised; attending training when required; mentoring apprentices.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Vehicle Technician, Diagnostic Technician - Cars & LGV, Automotive

As our Vehicle Technician, you'll take ownership of your own area of work and will be trusted to complete the job to a high standard.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Identifying and rectifying in-depth and complex diagnostic faults.
• Carrying out service, maintenance and repairs across a range of cars and LGVs.
• Liaising with the Parts Department to make sure jobs are completed efficiently.
• Completing job cards, service sheets, clocking and other relevant documentation accurately and on time.
• Keeping your workspace clean, tidy and organised.
• Maintaining up-to-date product and technical knowledge and attending training where required.
• Supporting and mentoring apprentices and other members of the wider team when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We're looking for someone who knows their way around a vehicle and, more importantly, knows how to find the fault when things aren't straightforward.

Ideally, you'll have:

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant vehicle maintenance/repair discipline, or strong proven experience.
• Higher-level diagnostic training or previous experience in a similar senior diagnostic role.
• A full, valid driving licence.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work as part of a team and support less experienced technicians.
