Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group Limited in Barking, Essex is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join its maintenance team. You will be responsible for the repair, servicing, and preventative maintenance of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring fleet reliability and safety across daily operations.

The role offers dayshift hours (07:00–16:00, Monday to Friday) with optional Saturday overtime. You should bring proven experience in HGV repair, strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, and a proactive approach

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy goods vehicle repair and maintenance.
• IRTEC qualification preferable.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with electrical experience.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and specialised equipment.
• Experience with assembly and general maintenance tasks.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely.
• Knowledge of excavators/forklifts is advantageous.
• Excellent organisation and record keeping.
• LOLER experience beneficial.
• Team player with good communication with transport team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and diagnostic assessments on HGVs to identify faults or potential issues.
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams to facilitate accurate repairs.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs efficiently.
• Maintain detailed records of work carried out and parts utilised for each vehicle.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.

Position: HGV Technician

Location: Barking, Essex

Salary: £45-55K DOE

Hours of Work: Days - 07:00-16:00 Monday to Friday (Saturday overtime, as requested)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our client's maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. The role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise a broad range of technical skills within a dynamic environment, supporting the smooth operation of our client's fleet.

Duties

• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment used in vehicle maintenance.
• Experience with assembly, equipment repair, and general maintenance tasks.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of operating heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts is advantageous.
• Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
• LOLER experience is beneficial although not essential
• Being able to work within a team and communicate well with the transport team.
