Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection LTD is seeking an HGV Technician in Peterborough. The role offers a path to obtain an HGV licence and IRTEC qualification, with a company investing in its team and training.

You will service, maintain and repair HGVs and trailers, diagnose faults, and prepare vehicles for MOT, with overtime and a bonus scheme.

A valid UK driving licence is required; an HGV licence is beneficial and support will be provided to gain one after six months.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent experience.
• Recent motor trade experience in a similar HGV role.
• Full UK driving licence; an HGV licence is a bonus but not required.
• Support to obtain HGV licence after six months if not held.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair HGVs, light vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT.
• Attend roadside breakdowns when required.
• Coordinate with parts department for efficient repairs.
• Complete job cards and workshop paperwork accurately.
• Keep technical knowledge up to date through ongoing training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

HGV Technician, HGV Fitter, HGV Mechanic - commercial vehicle, LGV, HGV, fleet

You’ll ideally have

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent experience)
• Recent experience working within the motor trade in a similar roleStrong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• A full UK driving licence
• An HGV licence would be fantastic, but it's not essential. If you're the right person and don't currently hold one, we'll support you in gaining your licence after six months.
