Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking an HGV Technician to service, repair and maintain HGVs and trailers in Peterborough. You will diagnose faults, prepare vehicles for MOT, and may attend roadside breakdowns, with ongoing training to keep skills current.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Recent experience in motor trade in a similar role.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Full UK driving licence; HGV licence desirable with training support after six months.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, light vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT.
• Attending roadside breakdowns when required.
• Working closely with the parts department.
• Completing job cards and workshop paperwork accurately.
• Keeping technical knowledge up to date through training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

HGV Technician, HGV Fitter, HGV Mechanic - commercial vehicle, LGV, HGV, fleet

YOU'LL IDEALLY HAVE:

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent experience)
• Recent experience working within the motor trade in a similar role
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• A full UK driving licence
• An HGV licence would be fantastic, but it's not essential. If you're the right person and don't currently hold one, we'll support you in gaining your licence after six months.
