Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Technician in Carlisle to diagnose, repair and maintain heavy goods vehicles and trailers. You will perform inspections, routine maintenance, MOT preparation, brake repairs and service work to keep fleets safe and compliant.

The role requires in-depth HGV knowledge with modern commercial vehicles, and an NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in HGV Technician is preferred; a Class 1 licence is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of HGV and trailers.
• NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in HGV Technician preferred.
• Experience with modern commercial vehicles and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machinery and vehicles to identify issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, MOT prep, brake repairs and servicing.
• Diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic tools.
• Repair or replace defective parts as needed.
• Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.

Job Title: HGV Technician

Salary: £20 per hour + Overtime

Location: Carlisle

Hours: Monday to Friday - 42.5hrs per week

They are seeking a skilled Mechanic with a strong background in HGV repair and maintenance. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs and ensuring that all vehicles and trailers are operating safely.

About your new HGV Technician role:

• Conduct thorough inspections of machinery and vehicles to identify potential issues.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including vehicle inspections, MOT test preparation, brake repairs, and service work.
• Diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Repair or replace defective parts and components as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with other team members to enhance overall operational efficiency.

The successful HGV Technician will require:

• You will have an in-depth knowledge of HGV and trailers
• Hold an HGV licence Class 1 (desirable but not essential)
• You will have industry recognised qualifications as an HGV Technician (NVQ or City & Guilds level 3).
• You must have detailed experience as an HGV Technician and be familiar with modern commercial vehicles.
