Job summary

Perfect Placement is seeking a skilled HGV Technician in the United Kingdom to join its service team. You will review job cards, perform maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy goods vehicles, and ensure work meets quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review job cards allocated by the workshop controller.
• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Test vehicle systems using advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Inspect vehicles for damage or malfunctions and carry out repairs or replacements.
• Reline, adjust and replace brakes and other critical systems.
• Service air conditioning, electrical, heating and cooling systems.
• Identify faults, source parts and ensure work meets quality standards.
• Conduct inspections and tests to evaluate vehicle safety and performance.

Duties of the HGV Technician include

• Receiving and reviewing job cards allocated by the workshop controller.
• Performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Testing vehicle systems using advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Examining vehicles for damage or malfunctions and executing repairs or replacements.
• Relining, adjusting, and replacing brakes and other critical systems.
• Servicing air conditioning, electrical, heating, and cooling systems.
• Identifying faults, sourcing parts, and ensuring all work meets quality standards.
• Conducting inspections and tests to evaluate vehicle safety and performance.

Requirements for the HGV Technician role

• NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in HGV repair, vehicle maintenance, or repair.
• Proven experience working with HGVs, LCVs, or similar commercial vehicles.
• Strong technical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team with a proactive attitude.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solid problem-solving ability, with a focus on quality and safety standards.
