Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution is hiring an Operator - HGV based at Llanfihangel-ar-Arth to support Craft teams with assets up to 66kV. You will carry out inspections, assist with maintenance and repairs, and help keep sites safe and efficient.

Ideal candidates hold English & Maths GCSEs (or equivalent), a Category C HGV licence (Driver CPC preferred), and can work with initiative in a safety‑critical environment, including crane operations and lift planning.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (1-9/G-A*) or equivalent qualification.
• Licensed to drive HGV up to category C; Driver CPC preferred.
• Ability to work using own initiative in a safety critical environment, including preparing lift plans and operating a lorry mounted crane.
• Willingness to be mobile around the area and undertake out-of-hours standby duties as required.
• Live within approximately 45 minutes of the depot.

Responsibilities

• Assist Craft teams with construction, maintenance, replacement and repairs of assets up to 66kV.
• Carry out routine inspection, maintenance and repairs of tools and PPE.
• Assist with maintenance of stores and inspection of substations.
