Job summary

E.ON UK is seeking a site-based operative to perform excavation, street lighting work, and EV connection tasks. You will drive company vehicles, including HGVs, operate a lorry crane, and support skilled teams on site. The role requires adherence to safety policies and active involvement in risk assessments.

You will mentor less experienced colleagues while maintaining high standards of PPE, site discipline and teamwork, with flexible hours when required.

Qualifications

• A current NRSWA qualification LA 01, 02 to 05 and 08.
• Up-to-date UK HGV Class II Driving Licence.
• NVQ Level 2 Highways Electrical Work.
• CPCS Lorry Loader or equivalent.
• High level of manual dexterity.
• Flexibility to work unsociable hours as required.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions precisely.
• Confident to work independently and in a team.
• Effective communication with the public.

Responsibilities

• Remove or decommission assets as required.
• Install and decommission street lighting, EV connections.

Job description

In this role, you’ll carry out a range of general duties, including excavation work associated with LV service jointing, as well as the erection and removal of columns, signs and bollards and work on associated cable networks. You’ll also support E.ON Utility Solutions with driving, deliveries and general yard duties.

Key Responsibilities

• The removal or decommissioning of assets as required.
• Work in connection with the installation and decommissioning of ALL associated street lighting equipment and EV connections.
• Driving general company vehicles including HGV.
• Operating lorry mounted crane.
• Excavation work for joint holes, columns, sign and bollard installations and associated cable runs.
• The safe use and operation of tools, equipment and vehicles associated with the role
• Providing support to skilled and specialist operatives
• Working in a safe manner and in accordance with Company Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and procedures
• Complying with operational working practices and associated risk assessments
• Taking full ownership for personal Health & Safety responsibilities
• Mentoring young and vulnerable persons on site
• Ensuring PPE is always worn

What we need from you

• A current NRSWA qualification LA 01, 02 to 05 and 08

• A high degree of manual dexterity
• Flexibility to work unsociable hours when required by the business

• Effective communication skills and a polite, courteous approach when interacting with members of the public.

It would be great if you had

• Recognised HERS e-portfolio
• An appropriate G39, HESA 210 and 214 safe isolation qualification
• CSCS accreditation via the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS)
