Job summary

Veolia Group in Telford is seeking a hands-on refuse driver to collect recycling, refuse, garden and food waste from domestic properties. You will drive a refuse vehicle and assist with loading, ensuring safety and compliance on every run.

The role requires a Cat C licence, Digi tachograph card and Driver CPC, with outdoor work in all weather. Overtime and a permanent opportunity are included with a strong focus on team support and development.

Qualifications

• Cat C (Class 2) Licence required.
• Digi / Tachograph Card required.
• Driver CPC required.
• Must be willing to load in addition to driving.
• Experience in the Waste Industry preferred.
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Collect recycling, refuse, garden and food waste from domestic properties in Telford and Wrekin.
• Drive refuse vehicles and assist with loading waste.
• Operate vehicles following training, procedures and legal safety requirements.
• Check vehicle condition and roadworthiness; report issues.
• Record work on onboard tablet and report safety or collection issues.
• Leave carriageway clean and clear spillages before leaving.

Hours: Guaranteed 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, 07:00 till 15:30 Overtime as required, including Good Friday and 8 Saturdays following Bank Holidays.

What you’ll be doing

• Collecting recycling, refuse, garden and food waste from domestic properties in Telford and Wrekin
• Driving the refuse vehicles and assisting with the loading of waste onto the vehicle
• Operating vehicles in line with all training, procedures and legal requirements to protect the safety of yourself, your team and the public.
• Checking your vehicle for condition and roadworthiness, completing the appropriate forms and reporting any issues immediately.
• Recording work completed using an onboard tablet device and reporting any safety or collection issues that arise.
• Ensure the carriageway is left in a clean condition and any spillages are cleaned up before leaving the area.

What we’re looking for

• This role involves manual handling and being outdoors in all weather conditions
