Job summary

Veolia UK is recruiting for a driver to operate a walking floor HGV from our Hertfordshire transfer station, working Monday to Friday with a 5am start. The role includes collecting waste from multiple sites and delivering to disposal locations, supporting our local communities and the environment.

The position offers an hourly rate of £21.65 plus Veolia Benefits, 40 hours per week, 5am starts, and overtime on a rota. 20 days annual leave and a pension scheme are available.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence required.
• Up-to-date CPC and Digi/Tachograph card.
• Experience driving a large fleet is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Drive and collect waste from Waterdale, Ware and Hitchin sites.
• Operate a HGV walking floor and transfer waste to disposal locations.
• Work on a rota with overtime opportunities.

This new waste infrastructure facility will be located behind Ware Recycling Centre on the A602, north of the town.

What will you be doing?

With one of the largest growing fleets in the UK, our drivers are pivotal to delivering essential services. They work hard to serve their local communities and make a positive impact every day.

You will be collecting waste from Waterdale, Ware and Hitchin sites to disposal locations on a HGV walking floor.

Once operational, the transfer station will receive kerbside waste and recycling materials from the surrounding areas, while a bulky waste shredding facility will assist in early delivery of the council’s ambition to send zero waste to landfill by 2030. The building will be equipped with modern noise and odour controls, ensuring minimal impact on the surrounding areas.
