Job summary

Veolia is seeking a dependable HGV Class 2 driver to join our team in Telford. You will collect recycling and waste from domestic properties, drive the refuse vehicle and assist with loading, working Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:30, 40 hours per week with overtime as required.

Applicants should hold a Cat C (Class 2) licence, Digi tachograph card and Driver CPC. The role involves outdoor work in all weather and manual handling, with full support and training provided by Veolia.

Qualifications

• Cat C (Class 2) Licence.
• Digi / Tachograph Card.
• Driver CPC.
• Must be willing to load as well as drive.
• Experience in the Waste Industry and customer facing role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collecting recycling, refuse, garden and food waste from domestic properties in Telford and Wrekin.
• Driving the refuse vehicles and assisting with loading of waste onto the vehicle.
• Operating vehicles in line with training and legal requirements to protect safety.
• Checking vehicle condition and roadworthiness; reporting issues.
• Recording work on onboard tablet and reporting safety/collection issues.

Salary: £15.30ph with overtime paid at 1.5

Location: Hortonwood 60, Telford, TF1 7AD

Hours: Guaranteed 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, 07:00 till 15:30

Overtime as required, including Good Friday and 8 Saturdays following Bank Holidays.

What you'll be doing

• Collecting recycling, refuse, garden and food waste from domestic properties in Telford and Wrekin
• Driving the refuse vehicles and assisting with the loading of waste onto the vehicle
• Operating vehicles in line with all training, procedures and legal requirements to protect the safety of yourself, your team and the public.
• Checking your vehicle for condition and roadworthiness, completing the appropriate forms and reporting any issues immediately.
• Recording work completed using an onboard tablet device and reporting any safety or collection issues that arise.
• Ensure the carriageway is left in a clean condition and any spillages are cleaned up before leaving the area.
