Job summary

J. Dickinson & Sons is seeking experienced Class 2 drivers to join our team. You will drive company vehicles safely, collect and deliver skips and containers locally, and perform pre-use checks while maintaining excellent customer relations.

Ideal candidates will have a valid Class 2 licence, proven HGV experience, and the ability to work proactively in a busy operation. Full training available if needed and a comprehensive benefits package provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Class 2 driving licence.
• Proven working experience as a HGV driver with clean record.
• Able to work proactively, independently in a fast-paced operation.
• Experience in waste industry is advantageous; training provided if not.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliability, punctuality and attendance are essential.

Job description

We are looking for experienced and proactive Class 2 drivers to expand our team of dedicated staff!

The role

• to drive our company vehicles in a safe and professional manner
• to collect and deliver various sizes of skips and containers across our local areas
• to complete documented pre-use checks on the vehicle and report any issues identified
• to liaise and communicate effectively with customers, members of the public and various site functions
• to represent the company in an appropriate and professional manner
• to complete the daily work schedule in line with the customer and company objectives

What You Need

• valid Class 2 category driving licence
• proven working experience as a HGV driver, with a good driving record and no traffic violations
• able to work proactively, independently and on own initiative in a fast-paced, high-volume operation
• previous experience working as a HGV driver in the waste industry would be advantageous; however, full training will be provided if you do not have this
• good written and verbal communication skills
• reliability, punctuality and good levels of attendance are a must

Package

• Starting pay £35,490 per annum
• 48.75 hours per week, Mon to Fri 6.30am-5.15pm
• Alternate Saturdays 7am-12.30pm, paid as extra
• Full training on our vehicles provided, with incremental increases offered on completion of training
