Job summary

Lockwood Group Ltd invites applications for a HGV Class 1 driver based at S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL. The role is Monday–Friday days, with a 44-hour guaranteed week and overtime opportunities. We offer a permanent contract, pension, training and a modern fleet, with full PPE and CPC funding.

Ideal candidates will hold a CPC, Digi card, and solid Tachograph knowledge, plus reliable, punctual customer-focused service. Join a supportive team across the South East region.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with CPC and Digi card.
• Good understanding of Tachograph and Working Time Directive (WTD) rules.
• Reliable, punctual with a flexible approach.

Responsibilities

• General haulage and on-time delivery of goods.
• Maintain excellent levels of customer service.
• Ensure accurate and timely communication with the Transport team.

Job description

Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business and currently has over 400employees spanning 8UK sites. The group’s activities include UK haulage and storage, frozen food production and co-packing solutions.

S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group of Companies) specialise in general haulage & distribution in and around the South East of England.

New business developments on the horizon are allowing us to recruit experienced HGV drivers.We are looking for drivers to be based from S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL.

Shift Pattern:Monday - Friday Days

Hours:44hours guarenteed pay per week based on a full working week. Salary rangebased on on target earnings, average 60 hours per week.

Hours may vary in accordance with business needs and reasonable additional hours may be required.

Rate: £16.00per hour

Other bonuses: Early start bonus & night out allowance

The Role

• General Haulage
• To maintain excellent levels customer service

• To deliver goods in a timely and professional manner

Ideally the candidates would meet the following requirements:

• Candidates will be a fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, valid Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• You will be reliable and punctual and have a flexible approach
• Good verbal communication with excellent customer service skills and a professional approach
• Previous Class 1 experience is preferred but not essential.
