Job summary

Lockwood Group is recruiting experienced HGV drivers for S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock. Roles are based at RM20 4EL with a 4 on 4 off pattern, 12-hour days, and nights out as required. Competitive rate £16.67 per hour plus nights out and bonuses, with permanent contracts and paid holidays.

Job description

Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business and currently has over 400 employees spanning 8 UK sites. The group’s activities include UK haulage and storage, frozen food production and co-packing solutions.

S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group of Companies) specialise in general haulage & distribution in and around the South East of England.

New business developments on the horizon are allowing us to recruit experienced HGV drivers. We are looking for drivers to be based from S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL.

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off days + nights out

Hours: Based on 12 hours per day. Salary range based on on target earnings. Hours may vary in accordance with business needs and reasonable additional hours may be required.

Rate: £16.67 per hour. Basic paid on an average of 42 hours per week. Nights out paid at £31.25 per night.

Other bonuses: Early start bonus & night out allowance where applicable

The Role

• General Haulage

Ideally the candidates would meet the following requirements:

• Candidates will be a fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, valid Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• You will be reliable and punctual and have a flexible approach
• Good verbal communication with excellent customer service skills and a professional approach
• Previous Class 1 experience is preferred but not essential.
