Job summary

Pollock Scotrans Ltd is looking for a skilled HGV Technician to join our Bathgate workshop. You will maintain, inspect and repair commercial vehicles to DVSA standards, ensuring roadworthiness and safety.

This role offers training, a supportive team environment, and opportunities for progression within our growing transport operation.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent is required.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Proven background in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of vehicle legislation and roadworthiness standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles to safe, roadworthy standards per DVSA and company requirements.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and inspections.
• Complete inspection, service and defect paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Carry out high‑quality repairs cost‑effectively and keep workshop facilities well maintained.
• Collaborate with the team and participate in ongoing training.

About the role:

As a HGV Technician you will:

• Ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard in line with DVSA & Group requirements.
• Carry out MOT preparation on Group assets.
• Ensure that all inspection/service/defect paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost-effective manner.
• Keep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Support central engineering function in identifying failure trends.
• Keep up to date with developments within the industry and understand changes that may impact the effective operation of the workshop.
• Have an organised and methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail
• Undertake manufacturer training courses as and when required.
• Take ownership of personal development, seeking assistance & guidance from team leaders.
• Be accountable for your own time, be efficient and proactive when working within the workshop.
• Work as part of the wider team and assist others where needed.

Requirements:

• Qualified up to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar vehicle maintenance role.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• A proven background in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness standards.
• C or C&E driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
