Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd is seeking an HGV Technician to keep our fleet safe and road-ready. You will diagnose faults, service and repair vehicles in a well-equipped workshop, and complete DVSA and manufacturer documentation.

We offer a competitive rate of £22.75 per hour (up to overtime at £34.13), ongoing training, and clear career progression within a supportive team. UK work eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or demonstrable experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar vehicle maintenance role.
• Diagnostic qualifications and experience are desirable.
• UK work eligibility is required or training can be provided to obtain a Class 1 licence if needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on vehicles and trailers using the latest diagnostic tools.
• Service and maintain vehicles and trailers in line with DVSA and manufacturer standards.
• Complete all legal and compliance documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
• Follow best practice when carrying out repairs, component replacements, and final sign-off.
• Conduct Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) to DVSA standards.
• Work collaboratively within a professional workshop team to meet operational targets.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised working environment.
• Comply with all relevant Health & Safety regulations and industry legislation at all times.

Job Description

As an HGV Technician, you'll be instrumental in keeping our fleet safe, compliant, and road-ready. Based in a well-run workshop, you'll deliver high-quality diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs using the latest equipment while working to DVSA and manufacturer standards.

Requirements

• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or demonstrable experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar vehicle maintenance role.
• Diagnostic qualifications and experience are desirable.
• A valid Class 1 licence is desirable; training and support can be provided to obtain this if required.
• Competent in the use of hand tools and power tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Wk1 - Mon-Fri 06:00hrs to 15:00hrs
• Wk2 - Mon-Fri 14:00hrs to 22:00hrs
• Saturday working rota - 07:00hrs to 12:00hrs

Overtime

Overtime paid at hourly rate x 1.5

• You will receive £10.00 per shift, when on standby rota basis.
• For each call out you will receive £20.00 call out charge.
• Any hours worked on call out, you will receive £34.13ph.
