Job summary

Pollock Scotrans Ltd in Bathgate is seeking an HGV Technician to maintain the fleet to DVSA standards and carry out MOT preparation on Group assets.

You will ensure accurate paperwork, perform cost‑effective repairs, and keep the workshop tidy while developing your skills through manufacturer training and team support.

This role offers a competitive £25ph wage for 42.5 hours per week, with overtime at £28.98ph and a clear path for professional development.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent.
• Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar vehicle maintenance role.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles to DVSA and Group requirements.
• Carry out MOT preparation on Group assets.
• Complete inspection/service/defect paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Carry out high quality repairs in a cost‑effective manner.
• Keep workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean and well maintained.
• Support central engineering in identifying failure trends.
• Stay up to date with industry developments and changes affecting workshop operations.
• Be methodical in problem solving with attention to detail.
• Undertake manufacturer training courses as required.
• Take ownership of personal development and seek guidance from team leaders.
• Be efficient with time and work within the workshop as part of a team.

About The Role

• Ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard in line with DVSA & Group requirements.
• Carry out MOT preparation on Group assets.
• Ensure that all inspection/service/defect paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost-effective manner.
• Keep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Support central engineering function in identifying failure trends.
• Keep up to date with developments within the industry and understand changes that may impact the effective operation of the workshop.
• Have an organised and methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail
• Undertake manufacturer training courses as and when required.
• Take ownership of personal development, seeking assistance & guidance from team leaders.
• Be accountable for your own time, be efficient and proactive when working within the workshop.
• Work as part of the wider team and assist others where needed.

Requirements

• Qualified up to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar vehicle maintenance role.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• A proven background in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness standards.
• C or C&E driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
