Would you like to work in one of the best Major Trauma Centres in the country? The Major trauma Ward is excited to announce we have a Band 3 health care support worker within our enhanced observation team. You would have the opportunity to look after patients who have gone through life changing experiences, such as road traffic collisions, violent assaults, suicide attempts, and significant falls. Our patients can have severe life threatening injuries and include traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord and column injuries, cardiothoracic injuries, orthopaedic and plastic injuries, maxillofacial trauma and general surgical trauma. Working in our fast paced environment exposes you to a broad range of surgical and medical specialties working together to get the best outcome for our patients.

  • The post holder will work with complex Major trauma patient who require 1:1 or enhanced observation care.
  • They will assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and supervised by a registered nurse.
  • The post is shared across to two wards within the trauma area and the post holder will follow the patient across both ward areas.
  • The post holder will be required to carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills.
  • To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
  • The post holder will generally work with supervision close by and within well established procedures and practices. The post holder is required to use a degree of initiative and deal with matters independently where they can but should know when to refer to the manager.
