Broadstairs Medical Practice is a medium size practice of 7300 patients and we are seeking a Health care Assistant to join our team who is experienced in primary care with the core skills to include management of Long Term Conditions, phlebotomy and adult immunistaion

What we offer-

Monday to Friday operations (no weekends or night shifts)

Broadstairs Medical Practice is looking to recruit a Part time/ Flextime Health Care Assistant. We are a partnership of 2 GP partners, 1 nurse. a Nursing Associate and a training nurse associate.. The admin teams includes 12 members of staff including medical secretaries, admin and receptionists.

You should be patient focused, friendly, flexible whilst also being able to work well under pressure.

Job responsibilities

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practicenurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines andprotocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team inthe provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and responsibilities:

ECG recording

Basic wound care

Processing andmanagement of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

Vaccine/cold chainstorage, monitoring and recording

Surgical equipment andvaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Preparing andmaintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient careinterventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minoroperations

Assisting in theassessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Undertaking specificclinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taughtspecifically in relation to that individual

Helping to raiseawareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with thecollection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Ideally you will have the HCA Care Certificates, HCA skills and competency in ECG, NHS Health Check and working with patients with long term condition such as diabetes, although training will be offered to the right candidate.
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3
  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
Experience
  • Experience of working within a nursing and HCA team
  • Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients.
  • - ECG
  • - Diabetic Foot checks
  • - Height/weight monitoring
  • - New patient health checks in accordance with the practice procedure
  • - Vaccinations (under instruction of Medical Practitioner).
  • - Wound Care Management.
  • - Community based referrals and health promotion strategies.
