Job summary

A local government organization in Woodbridge is hiring a Health and Safety Advisor to support the Health & Safety Manager. You will provide expert advice, ensure compliance with health and safety laws, and help shape policies and procedures. Qualifications

  • Previous health and safety knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in identifying non-compliance and unsafe practices.
  • Ability to support and coach service leads for improvements.
  • Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Experience in complex health and safety incident investigations.

  • Band 5/6 (Career Grade) £31,537 - £38,220 per annum. Placement within the Band is dependent on experience and qualifications held.

We currently have an opportunity to join our Health and Safety team as a Health and Safety Advisor.

Your role

You will support the Health & Safety Manager by providing expert advice, guidance, and training on all health and safety matters affecting employees, activities, and workplaces. You'll monitor compliance with legal requirements and help shape policies, procedures, and practices that ensure East Suffolk Services meets its occupational health and safety obligations.

What you will need:

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, methodical and approachable, with strong investigative, analytical and communication skills.

You must have:
  • Previous health and safety knowledge and experience.
  • Previous experience in identifying non-compliance and unsafe practices.
  • The ability to liaise with service leads and teams - supporting and coaching them to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Experience of undertaking complex health and safety incident investigations.
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) qualification is essential at the entry point of the career grade, with NEBOSH Diploma Level 6 being the requirement for the higher career grade.
