CVS Group is seeking a Head Receptionist to join our West Sussex Veterinary Centre network in Chichester, Felpham and Rustington. This full-time role (40 hours) offers varied shifts across opening hours 8-7.

You will lead the reception team, manage rotas, assist with recruitment and handle client insurance and payments, ensuring a warm, professional experience for every client. Previous receptionist experience is essential; veterinary experience is a plus.

Job description

We are seeking anenthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Head Receptionist across our West Sussex Veterinary Centre Chichester, Felpham and Rustington practices.

Location: West Sussex Veterinary Centre Chichester, Felpham and Rustington

Contract: Full time

Hours: 40hrs

Shift Pattern: Variable, but practices are open 8-7 so depends if the candidate would like 4x longer days or 5x shorter 8hrs days.

About the role:

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Managing the Receptionist team, including training and providing support and guidance


• Creating and managing the team rota


• Supporting with Recruitment and liaising with the internal recruitment team


• Account Control & Debt Management


• Manage the processing of insurance claims


• Assist in the management of our Healthy Pet Club

Additional Day-to-day duties of the role will include:

• Answering phones and booking appointments


• Responding to queries via phone, in person and email


• Registering new clients


• Completing insurance forms


• Dispensing medications


• Taking payments


• And most importantly; providing a warm and welcoming experience to our clients arriving at the practice

What we’re looking for in our Veterinary Head Receptionist:

• Previous Receptionist experience is essential, veterinary experience is a plus!


• Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations


• An excellent communicator with strong empathy


• Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public


• A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database management and operating systems
