Headof Urgent Care Commissioning - 12 month fixed term contract.

£70,396 - £80,837 Inclusive of Hcas

Operating at the heart of system integration, the Head of UEC Commissioning and Delivery will lead the commissioning of out-of-hospital urgent care services including Urgent Community Response (UCR), Hospital@Home (H@H), Virtual Wards, and Intermediate Care. A key priority will be the development and alignment of a robust Single Point of Access (SPOA) to streamline care pathways and provide effective alternatives to hospital-based care.

The post sits within Southeast London ICB (Bromley) and will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including acute, community, local authority, and ambulance partners, to drive improvements in urgent and same-day care delivery. The role will also lead on the UEC elements of the Better Care Fund (BCF), ensuring alignment with local strategic priorities and national planning guidance.

Main duties of the job

This pivotal role provides strategic leadership and system-wide commissioning oversight for the delivery and transformation of same-day Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) services across Bromley. The postholder will be responsible for shaping and delivering the local UEC offer in line with the NHS Long Term Plan, ensuring services are high-quality, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of the current and future population.

Qualifications & Education
  • Educated to degree level with extensive knowledge of Urgent and Emergency Care, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
  • Extensive knowledge of NHS and an understanding of urgent and emergency care policy and commissioning requirements
  • Excellent working knowledge of commissioning and service redesign processes, able to show impact of application in previous roles
  • Experience of leading collaborative working across disciplines and organisational boundaries in a complex policy area
  • Experience of managing people directly and indirectly to effect behaviour and change
Skills & Abilities
  • Strategic Planning: Proficiency in developing and implementing strategic plans to address evolving healthcare needs and achieve organizational and national policy objectives. The ability to anticipate future trends and adapt strategies accordingly is crucial in this role
  • Change Management: Proven experience in leading change initiatives within healthcare settings, with a focus on driving operational improvements and enhancing patient outcomes.
