Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Head of Technical UK-wide who will lead the technical direction across the national Thales account. Home-based with regular national travel, you will act as the senior technical authority, shaping asset lifecycle, risk management and investment decisions.

You’ll collaborate with operations, site teams and customer executives to ensure safe, resilient and efficient services. Your credibility and leadership will drive technical strategy into action across a complex UK estate.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge across M&E/building services.
• Experience in a large/complex operational environment.
• Knowledge of planned maintenance and statutory compliance.
• Ability to assess technical risk and translate to action.
• Experience handling critical asset failures or technical issues.
• Ability to influence senior operational and customer stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness for investment cases.
• Willingness to travel regularly across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior technical authority across the account.
• Set the technical strategy, priorities and improvement roadmap.
• Maintain oversight of critical assets, compliance, lifecycle and technical risk.
• Lead technical recovery plans when assets fail or service continuity is at risk.
• Oversee statutory maintenance, certification, audit readiness and Safe Systems of Work.
• Identify asset investment and replacement priorities.
• Build robust technical and commercial business cases for investment.
• Use asset data and root-cause analysis to reduce recurring failures.
• Provide governance around suppliers, competence and technical standards.
• Work with operational leadership to turn strategy into action.
• Provide clear, concise advice on risk, priorities and investment.
