Job description

A leading international trading company is seeking an experienced legal professional to join their team as Head of Legal. This is a global-facing role, overseeing legal matters across multiple countries, supporting both corporate and regulatory activities, and managing a small team within a dynamic, fast-paced business. The organisation includes a heavily regulated securities arm, and therefore some financial services experience is required to deal with requests from the FCA and ongoing regulatory licence work across the various jurisdictions. You will provide pragmatic, commercial legal guidance on a broad range of matters including contracts, client agreements, sanctions, corporate transactions, and M&A while ensuring regulatory compliance and other cross-border requirements.

The role requires a corporate and regulatory legal background with experience in financial services, inter-dealer broking, or investment banking, within any shipping or trade experience a plus. The ideal candidate is commercially minded and able to provide clear, concise advice without overcomplication. You will liaise with external counsel and support the development of the organisation’s international legal panel, working closely with other stakeholders to manage legal risk efficiently.

This is a hands on, full-time onsite role for a lawyer able to operate at pace, manage multiple priorities, and influence across a complex international business.
