As we continue to expand rapidly, we are seeking a passionate and commercially astute Head of Finance & M&A to lead our finance function and support strategic growth initiatives. This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines operational excellence with high‑level financial strategy, planning, and M&A execution. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of the business, working closely with senior leadership and external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations including bookkeeping, invoicing, credit control, payroll, VAT returns, and supplier payments.
  • Manage and optimise finance systems including Xero and Dext.
  • Deliver monthly management accounts (P&L, cashflow, balance sheet) and ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
  • Support financial planning, scenario modelling, and pricing analysis.
  • Lead financial due diligence, valuation modelling, and deal structuring for acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with external advisers to execute transactions and integrate new businesses.
  • Optimise cashflow and working capital to support growth.
  • Provide insight and support on funding requirements where relevant.
  • Scope and hire junior finance support as the business scales.
  • Determine what to automate, outsource, or bring in‑house.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align financial strategy with business goals.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in SME, high‑growth or PE‑backed environments
  • Proven track record of owning end‑to‑end finance operations
  • Strong financial modelling and strategic planning capabilities
  • Exposure to M&A, investment analysis, and financial due diligence
  • Hands‑on, commercially minded, and execution‑focused. Pragmatic, process‑oriented, and solutions‑driven.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, founder‑led environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Genuine passion for sport and the sports industry
  • Experience in professional services, media or sport is a bonus
