Job Title: Head of Department - Maths & English

Salary: £47,681 (fixed point)

Location: Dewsbury

Hours and Weeks per Year: 37 hours per week / 52 weeks per year

About the Role

At Kirklees College we are always looking for new talent, and welcome applications from all sectors. Whether in a teaching & learning role or one of our specialised Business Support functions, you’ll be involved in nurturing and developing the next generation of construction workers, engineers, health workers and countless others. In the role of Head of English and Maths you’ll predominately be based at Dewsbury.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the effective development and delivery of teaching, learning, and assessment within the curriculum areas.
  • Support the Curriculum Director in providing an innovative and efficient curriculum offer.
  • Oversee student recruitment, retention, attendance, and achievement targets.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and staff timetabling to ensure optimal performance.
  • Promote outstanding performance through lesson observations, assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Ideally, you’ll have a relevant degree (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in a leading role in English and Maths. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively, engage with young people, and demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.
