Palé Hall, part of Relais & Châteaux, seeks an experienced Head Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping team and uphold exceptional cleanliness and presentation across the property. This hands-on leadership role focuses on organising a busy operation, team development, and a strong guest experience.

You will manage daily workloads, training, and quality checks, coordinating with other departments to ensure a seamless service in a stunning Welsh setting.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced, organised and motivated Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team and ensure consistently high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout Palé Hall.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who takes pride in maintaining excellent standards, enjoys supporting and developing a team, and can organise a busy housekeeping operation effectively.

This is a full time permanent position, 40 hours per week, five days over seven.

As Head Housekeeper, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the housekeeping department. Your duties will include:

• Leading, supervising and motivating the housekeeping team
• Planning daily workloads, rotas and staff allocation
• Ensuring all rooms and communal areas are cleaned and presented to a consistently high standard
• Carrying out regular quality and cleanliness inspections
• Training, supporting and developing members of the housekeeping team
• Monitoring stock levels and ordering cleaning products, linen and other supplies as required
• Ensuring equipment is maintained and used safely
• Working closely with other departments to ensure an efficient and professional service
• Ensuring health and safety, COSHH and infection‑control procedures are followed
• Responding promptly and professionally to any housekeeping issues
• Supporting recruitment, induction and performance management within the department
